Marcin Krysiak and Filip Kubik, aviation and aerospace science students at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics of the Rzeszów University of Technology, took 2nd place in the European Defence Challenge IV competition for their idea ‘The utilization of artificial intelligence in the process of intercepting rocket projectiles’.
The European Defence Challenge is an open competition aimed at attracting young talent to the defence industry and encouraging them to pursue a career in defence-related technologies.
The concept created by students at the Rzeszów University of Technology allows the rapid detection, identification and classification of a missile. In subsequent steps, it selects the appropriate defence strategy and performs the necessary actions. In addition, the system combines risk analysis to minimise the number of potential casualties and the scale of damage to infrastructure, and takes into account economic and political factors.
