During this year’s International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC), students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow achieved top individual positions, which translated into winning the 2nd place out of 100 competing teams. This is the best result in this competition in a decade.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Jagiellonian University announced that a record number of 667 participants from all over the world took part in the competition. They could be nominated by universities and apply on their own.
Successful, individual starts of students of the Jagiellonian University put them in second place in the team classification. Only representatives of the University of Tel-Aviv were ahead of them. The competition was also attended by representatives of 4 other Polish universities: the University of Warsaw (5th position), the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań (88th), University of Silesia (90th) and individual students of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.
