Szczecin engineer printed the “last chance ventilator” on a 3D printer

14.05.2020

Dr Eng. Marcin Królikowski from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics of the West Pomeranian University of Technology has developed a prototype ventilator using a 3D printer. This is a modified version of VentilAid – the device designed by Krakow engineers.

The Szczecin engineer has been redesigned the housing, control and drive functions of the ventilator. However, the whole concept developed by Kraków engineers Mateusz Janowski and Szymon Chrupczalski – engineers from Krakow was remained.

– This is a “last resort ventilator”. The device is to facilitate ventilation of the lungs with air without human intervention, i.e. just like in classic ventilators based on the mask and respiratory support – says Dr Eng. Marcin Królikowski. He wants the device to be connected to lighters in vehicles intended for the transport of patients, e.g. in an ambulance.
