The 9th European Rover Challenge space robotics competition in Kielce, held on the world’s largest artificial Martian track, ended in victory for the AGH Space Systems team from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. Second and third place were awarded to Swiss teams FHNW Rover Team and EPFL Xplore.
The finals featured 35 of the world’s best academic teams from almost all continents.
This year’s event was held in two formats: 20 teams competed on site and 15 competed by connecting remotely from the farthest corners of the globe.
The competitions took place on a track, with a surface inspired by a fragment of the Martian landscape, and the teams had to meet the challenges posed to engineers of real Martian missions.
