Professor Bartosz Karaszewski, head of the Department of Neurology at the Medical University of Gdańsk, is the initiator and the main author of the TELESTROKE project – a model of regional inter-hospital telemedical platforms.
The telemedicine platforms described in the project are aimed at improving the effectiveness of treatment of acute phase of ischemic strokes by increasing the availability of invasive endovascular therapies and shortening the time for therapeutic interventions.
The TELESTROKE project is coordinated by the University Hospital in Krakow, and one of the contractors is the hospital of the Medical University of Gdańsk – University Clinical Center. It received funding of over PLN 3.5 million as part of the POLKARD program of the Ministry of Health for 2017-2020.
