As the result of many months of talks between the rectors of the largest Polish higher vocational schools and the Ministry of Education and Science soon, the Academy of Applied Sciences in Tarnów will take the place of the State Higher Vocational School (PWSZ) in Tarnów. The relevant application has already been sent, we are waiting for its approval – informed Dr Małgorzata Kołpa, the rector of the PWSZ in Tarnów.
In the Małopolska Region, in addition to the Tarnów university, a similar status will be given to the State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Sącz. Preparations for the transformation into an academy of applied sciences during the current academic year are also carried out by the rectors of the Podhale State Vocational University in Nowy Targ.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, if vocational higher schools meet the conditions set out in the Act for changing the name of the university to “academy of applied sciences”, they will be able to obtain a permit to establish studies preparing for the teaching profession without the requirement to conclude cooperation agreements with an academic university.
