The University of Life Sciences in Poznan completed the fourth contest “Make a bike of wood”. The competition was won by Michał Kasperski, a student of the wood technology department for his project “Lady Woodka”.
The goal of the “Make a bike of wood” competition is to promote wood as a construction material and to promote technical culture and healthy lifestyle for young people. To be allowed to competition, the project must have at least a frame made of wood or wood-based materials. Other elements and accessories may be made of non-wood material. The bicycle must perform a transport function.
Seven vehicles were submitted this year. The projects included various new solutions – from a bicycle having a gear transmission instead of a chain to a 3-person bicycle with a length exceeding 3 meters. The winning vehicle was made of plywood and parts from an old bicycle.
