Laboratory of Laser Molecular Spectroscopy (LLSM) of the Lodz University of Technology headed by Prof. Halina Abramczyk received almost PLN 5 million from the Ministry of Education and Science for the purchase of research equipment.
The laboratory will be equipped with a unique apparatus enabling the development of research: “NANOONCOLOGY: Optical biopsy, virtual histopathology and operations guided by the Raman method”.
The LLSM conducts research on cancer chemistry, biology and medicine.
“The research conducted in our laboratory confirms the possibility of implementing pioneering and innovative methods of oncological diagnostics based on Raman biomarkers. The biochemical information contained in Raman spectra allows not only to make a diagnosis, but also to understand the mechanisms of metabolic reprogramming in cancer cells and to track epigenetic changes that occur during tumor development”, says Prof. Halina Abramczyk.
