“The third element of the GTA system, the Global Astrophysical Telescope, has started. It is a set of PST3 telescopes located in the dark sky refuge at the Center for Environmental Education in Chalin near Sieraków”, informs the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań (AMU).
GTA is a system of 3 specialized astronomical observatories located in three locations on two continents: two in Europe and one in North America. This system has been developed by the Astronomical Observatory Institute of the Adam Mickiewicz University in the last 20 years.
It is one of the most modern optical systems for tracking artificial satellites in the world, allowing the detection and tracking of objects even several centimeters in low orbits around the Earth (several hundred kilometers from the observer). The PST3 consists of 5 telescopes and thus can be used for various types of astronomical observations and for testing the latest models of astronomical digital cameras and modern software.
