The opening ceremony of three Dioscuri Centres of Scientific Excellence took place at the Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Krakow. Three scientists of Polish origin, who previously worked in Germany, Switzerland and the USA, are returning to Poland, thanks to the Polish-German financial support provided by the Dioscuri programme.
As part of the programme, the following units will be established at the Jagiellonian University:
Dioscuri Centre for Structural Dynamics and Receptors, which will be headed by Dr Przemysław Nogły.
Dioscuri Centre for Modelling of Posttranslational Modifications, headed by Dr Mariusz Sikora.
The Dioscuri Centre in Random Walks in Geometry and Topology, headed by Dr Mikołaj Frączyk.
The Dioscuri programme, which was established on the initiative of the Max Planck Society, aims to create research groups in Central and Eastern Europe capable of competing at an international level. Each Dioscuri Centre will receive funding of €1.5 million over five years.
