From among the hundred projects of Mars colonies sent from around the world, the organization Mars Society chose ten projects. Their authors will present their solutions in the USA. Two teams from Poland reached the final of the Mars Colony Prize. Both teams include students of the Wrocław University of Technology.

The Polish proposals of the Martian housing estate are “Ideacity” and “Twardowsky”. They qualified for the finals with projects developed by Russians, Swedes, Americans, French and Swiss. The Polish projects will be presented at the Mars Society Convention at the University of Southern California.

The subject of the competition is the project of a self-sufficient Martian colony for a thousand people. The housing estate should import as few goods as possible from the Earth, and at the same time produce goods for export. It has to produce energy and food for its inhabitants, building materials needed for expansion, as well as clothes and all products of everyday use.
