Researchers at the Faculty of exact, natural and technical sciences of the Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa have created innovative solutions for recycling plastic waste. The technology will be soon patented.
The invention will allow for effective segregation of plastic waste by introducing biodegradable polymer additives of natural origin, causing luminescence under UV light. This will enable effective separation of biodegradable packaging waste in sorting plants from other plastics and will give a real chance for a significant increase in improving the quality of the natural environment by reducing the amount of plastic waste and increase the possibilities of their final destination after consumption, namely the possibility of subjecting them to organic recycling, where they will be able to decompose into carbon dioxide and water.
