The Faculty of English, the University of Adam Mickiewicza in Poznań has launched the Laboratory of Psychophysiology of Language and Affect (PoLA). The new laboratory will study patterns of neuronal activity and electrodermal activity through electroencephalography (EEG) and galvanic skin reaction (GSR).
The basic tasks of the laboratory are planning and conducting research on the psychophysiology of language and affect with the use of modern research equipment enabling the measurement of the bioelectric activity of the brain and the skin-galvanic reaction, extending the knowledge of cognitive and affective mechanisms in bilingualism, in the process of making moral decisions and in the process of creative thinking.
The research conducted at the PoLA laboratory is aimed at understanding how people communicate emotions when they speak different languages, make decisions, and when they think creatively.
