The Institute of Hydraulic Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk, the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Sopot and the University of Gdańsk have signed an agreement on cooperation in the organization and promotion of “Summer Meetings with Science”.

Summer Meetings with Science is a science-popularizing activity conducted continuously since 2003 at the Creative Work Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Czarlin-Skoczków on the Wdzydze lake. In July and August, every Saturday, scientists from various disciplines give popular science lectures popularizing the results of research conducted in Poland. After each lecture a discussion takes place, followed by a coffee break with a lecturer.

The organizers of the Meetings received in 2012 the prestigious award of the Science Populariser awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Polish Press Agency. The campaign has been organized for many years with the support of the Council for Dissemination of Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
