The University of Gdańsk was ranked 15th among Polish universities and 1050th in the world in the last Webometrics. The Web of Universities Ranking published webometric indicators for over 31 thousand higher education and science institutions from around 200 countries around the world, including 379 Polish universities. 

Webometrics (Ranking of Web of Universities) is the largest international ranking of universities based on bibliometric and webometric indicators. Its aim is to promote and increase the presence and recognition of academic and research institutions on the Internet, and to popularize open access to the publication of scientific results – says Katarzyna Gregorowicz-Bielawska, Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Rankings.

The ranking was created in 2004 and is updated twice a year. The data operator and compilation author is Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the Spanish Supreme Council for Scientific Research based in Madrid.
