The University of Gdańsk has received funding for the implementation of the project “Advanced High Aspect Ratio and Multicomponent materials: towards comprehensive intelligent testing and safe by design Strategies” (HARMLESS) under the Horizon 2020 Program.
The main goal of the project carried out at the Department of Environmental Chemistry and Radiochemistry is to develop new tools for an intelligent testing strategy and safe design of multi-component second-generation nanoparticles. In order to characterize comprehensively the newly designed second-generation nanoparticles and to assess reliably their potential hazards, exposure and risk, the developed tools will integrate both the experimental and computational approaches.
The project is implemented in a consortium consisting of 19 partners from 12 European countries. The consortium obtained funding in the amount of nearly EUR 8 million, including over 225 thousand euro for the Gdańsk university. The project will take 48 months.
