Due to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus threat and the huge needs of medical and sanitary services in this extraordinary situation in the field of treating patients and detecting infections, the University of Gdańsk transferred specialized equipment to the Provincial Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Gdańsk.

The university offered the Sanepid station the Light Cycler 480 II thermal cycler for the determination of genetic material of the virus in RT-PCR technology in real time. This is a highly specialized equipment that allows testing for detection of coronavirus infection.

Thanks to the handover of the equipment, the number of analyzes needed by the Station today can be doubled.
