University of Opole becomes coordinator of the international network “Border and Regional Studies”

15.04.2021

The Institute of Political Sciences and Administration of the University of Opole became the coordinator of the international network “Border and Regional Studies” established under the Central European University Exchange Program. The network includes 15 universities from 10 countries of Central Europe and the Balkans.

The “Border and Regional Studies” network brings together representatives of the academic community dealing with border studies as well as local and regional studies. Its advantage is its geographical scope and interdisciplinarity – it connects political scientists, sociologists, cultural scientists and geographers.

The network will be a platform for exchanging experiences and transferring knowledge. In the future, it is planned to exchange students and academic staff as well as organize summer and winter schools. One of the first initiatives will be the international conference “New Challenges for Borderland Studies: Regional, European and Global Perspectives” planned in Opole in September 2021.
