A summer school on documentary filmmaking in the social sciences, ‘Spotlight – audiovisually capturing the dynamics of attachment to place and identity in the borderlands of Central Europe’, is underway in Opole. The classes are possible thanks to the financial support of the Swiss University of St. Gallen, the Centre for European Governance and Culture and the small grants programme of the Visegrad Fund.
Twelve participants from seven countries with different disciplinary affiliations (arts, humanities, social sciences) and a variety of skills were selected for the class. The intensive programme offers a strong theoretical foundation and practical skills training for students and doctoral candidates.
The activities have been designed to strengthen audiovisual competences, which the participants of the school will be able to use both as a research method and as a way to disseminate the results of their scientific work.
