Scientists of the Institute of Political Sciences and Administration of the University of Opole will receive over 500,000. PLN for the implementation of the project “Analysis of cross-border cooperation in the countries of the Visegrad Group (V4)”. The funding is allocated by the Opus program of the National Science Center.
The planned research will focus on the way in which cross-border cooperation has changed the borderlands of the Visegrad countries from the late 1990s to 2020. The researchers will also analyze whether the COVID-19 and the migration crisis have changed cooperation between individual V4 countries, as well as their neighbors.
The project implementers Dr Hynek Böhm and Dr Wojciech Opioła are pointing out that European integration has entered a very complicated phase even before the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to crises within the EU, now a stronger role of the Member States and a real extension of integration to areas other than the common economy are required.
