-It’s no secret that thanks to the discovery of Grodzisk Scytyjski Scythian town in Chotyniec Rzeszów became a bright spot on the archaeological map of Poland. Of course, this is not the only important discovery of recent years. The history of archeology in the Podkarpackie region immerses much deeper – says Dr Maciej Ulita and reminds that this year the Institute of Archeology UR celebrates its 20th anniversary.
On this occasion, UR is launching a series of events related to the jubilee. On December 2-3, it will organize a scientific conference – ‘Outskirts of cultures – cultures of outskirts. From research on archeology in Central and Eastern Europe from the younger Stone Age to the early Iron Age”. Many prominent researchers from Poland and abroad have announced their participation in the conference.
On December 4, the honorary doctor title will be received by Prof. Aleksander Kośko. He is an archaeologist who managed numerous field research in Poland, primarily in the Kujawy, but also in Pomerania and Greater Poland regions. He is the creator and editor-in-chief of the “Baltic-Pontic Studies” yearbook and a co-editor of the “Archaeologia Bimaris” series.
