The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland has published a report summarizing the inventive activity of scientists in 2019. The University of Silesia in Katowice took thirteenth place in the national ranking.

With the number of 28 patented solutions in the analyzed period, the University of Silesia took thirteenth position among all organizations submitting their inventions to the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, including scientific and research centers, enterprises, institutions and natural persons.

The Silesian university took the first place in terms of the number of patents granted in 2019 – among the so-called non- specialized universities- in the ranking of Polish and foreign entities.
