The University of Silesia in Katowice took the sixth place among scientific institutions in Poland (and the fifth among Polish universities) in the Nature Index ranking taking into account the publication activity of scientists in the most prestigious magazines in the field of exact and natural sciences.

Nature Index provides information basing on the lists of scientific publications presenting the most current research results. The listings include the publication of research results conducted at the highest level by scientists from around the world and cooperation undertaken by scientists at regional, national and institutional level.

The ranking is prepared on the basis of data collected from 82 major magazines in the world, such as “Nature”, “Science” and “Physical Review A”. The number of published articles prepared by scientists representing individual scientific institutions was also taken into account.
