The University of Silesia in Katowice is participating in the second competition for the selection of European Universities – consortiums of higher education institutions from the European Union, implementing a joint long-term strategy and promoting European values and identity.

The university consortium, with the participation of the University of Silesia, consists of: Universität des Saarlandes – Germany (project coordinator), Universidad de Alicante – Spain, Università degli Studi di Trieste – Italy, Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas (University of Vytautas the Great) – Lithuania, Sofia University St. Clement of Ohrid – Bulgaria and the Estonian Academy of Fine Arts.

European Universities is a flagship initiative of the European Education Area to create joint inter-university campuses. The high colleges are to combine their expertise, platforms and resources to develop joint curricula or modules covering different disciplines.
