The University of Silesia (UŚ) took 13th place in the ranking of domestic and foreign high schools which were granted patents for the submitted inventions. Among Polish biggest universities, with a number of 27 patents, it was reached the first position.
The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland published the 2020 report containing statistics on the protection of intellectual property in Poland, as well as information on initiatives and activities to support innovation and disseminating knowledge.
The Silesian university has been one of the best non-technical universities in Poland for years in terms of the number of patent applications and granted industrial property rights – mainly patents for inventions. In 2019, the University of Silesia obtained 29 patents for inventions and 35 in 2018. Scientists of the University of Silesia are the creators and co-creators of over 600 objects of industrial property: inventions, utility models, industrial designs and trademarks.
