Dr Leszek Małczak, Prof. of the University of Silesia from the Faculty of Humanities of the university received the Davidias award for the book “From ideological translation to subversive translation. Croatian-Polish cultural relations in 1944–1989 “Od ideološkoga to subverzivnoga prijevoda: Hrvatsko-poljske kulturne veze from 1944 to 1989”.
The prize was awarded on the occasion of the Croatian Book Day. This event is celebrated on April 22 to commemorate the day on which in 1501 the Renaissance poet Marko Marulić from Split, called the father of Croatian literature, completed his poem “Judith”. The name of the award comes from the title of one of Marulic’s works, which was created in Latin.
The Silesian scientist, was awarded in the category “the best study of a foreign Croatia researcher” for his book published in 2019 by the Alfa Zagreb publishing house.
