The Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia in Katowice will host the participants of the 46th Symposium of the International Committee of the History of Technology on July 27 (ICOHTEC). The congress concerns the relationship between technology and power.
The congress, attended by about 150 scientists, is accompanied by workshops, meetings and trips to places associated with technology. An important element of the event is the summer school – a forum for young scientists, undertaking in their research issues related to the history of technology and its role for the development of societies throughout history.
ICOHTEC was founded in 1968 in Paris, and its aim was to integrate scientific communities on both sides of the so-called iron curtain. Currently, members of the organization are scholars from Europe, as well as from the Americas, Japan, India and Australia. The Committee organizes regular conferences gathering a large group of researchers from around the world.
