The Club of Young Classics operating at the Department of Classical Philology at the University of Silesia invites participants on May 31 to the nationwide scientific conference “Between myth and man. Perception of mythology for centuries.”

The theme of the event will focus on the Greek, Roman and Scandinavian mythology and its reception in later times. The guests of the conference will be representatives of Polish research centers, including from Warsaw, Łódź, Kraków, Rzeszów and Lublin. Students from IV Secondary School in Sosnowiec are also invited to participate.

The participants will discuss the following topics: problems of contemporary myth; Scandinavian vision of the end of the world; the reception of the myth about Icarus in Italian literature; various reflections of Narcissus and Egyptian religion as the meaning of human life.
