On 15 May, the Department of Literary Theory of the Institute of Polish Literature, Faculty of Philology at the University of Silesia in Katowice and the Historical and Literary Commission of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Branch in Katowice invite participants to the scientific seminar “What’s left after Niziurski?”.
Edmund Niziurski’s prose left a permanent mark on Polish youth literature. This popular author even in the gloomy communist Poland offered the young readers a lot of amazing adventures. However, the recognition for each writer lasts as long as people remember his works. Niziurski, who wrote from the mid-1950s to the mid-1990s, may turn out to be a writer who is out of date today. Hence the question mark is put in the title of the seminar.
The seminar is supported by the Polish section International Board on Books for Young People and it is addressed to scholars, PhD students and students.
