The Museum of Olympism will be opened at the University of Szczecin in autumn. It will be the only such place in Poland and one of the few in Europe. The facility will present souvenirs, incl. medals, decorations, photographs, costumes, gadgets donated to the university by its students or graduates – participants of the Olympic Games.
The museum is being built in the building of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Health of the Szczecin University. Its mission is to care for the cultural heritage, including the Olympic heritage.
“Among our students and graduates we have several dozen participants of the Games, including gold medalists. On their example, they show how great careers can be pursued in sport by studying at a university that does not have a sports profile. Nevertheless, we make it possible to combine these two areas of life, as evidenced by the impressive results of people who gave us their souvenirs”- says the rector of the University of Szczecin, Prof. Waldemar Tarczyński.
