Researchers from the University of Szczecin received funding for the project “Safe transporter of infectious material”, which is the result of interdisciplinary research and development activities conducted at the Center for Structural and Functional Research of Man in consultation with the Institute of Biology.

The main goal of the scientists was to create a safe transport container that would well protect the infectious material contained in it (stored in swabs), and at the same time being as easy as possible to use while working in the laboratory.

As a result of the project, they have already been created a device, which is currently being tested. The device will enable to achieve the 6th degree of technological readiness. The transporter’s design was submitted to the Patent Office.

Researchers of the University of Szczecin will be supported by employees of the Department of Molecular Biotechnology and Microbiology of the chemical faculty of the Gdańsk University of Technology.
