A letter of intent to establish a network of Data Centres of Excellence has been signed at the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn. Its task will be to collect and process data – both for scientific and research use and for public use.
The signing of the letter of intent was part of a conference ‘Ecosystem of data science and AI in Warmia and Mazury’. It was hosted by the UWM Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
“The University of Warmia and Mazury is the first of four scientific institutions that will become pilot Data Centres of Excellence and give rise to a network of such centres in Poland”, said Minister of Digitalisation Janusz Cieszynski.
Open data is information collected, provided or paid for by public authorities, which is then made freely available for reuse for any purpose. The challenge posed by the continuous development of the IT sector is to ensure the highest quality of data and its development and enforcement of standards for impartiality and representativeness.
