The University of Warsaw (UW) has concluded an agreement with the Military Medical Institute (WIM) in Warsaw on organisational, educational and research cooperation in the creation and delivery of medical studies at UW.

The agreement was signed by Professor Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the UW, and Lieutenant General Professor Grzegorz Gielerak, Director of the WIM. The signed agreement concerns cooperation in the establishment of a medical faculty at the University of Warsaw, followed by teaching and further development of the teaching offer and research cooperation in the field of medical and health sciences. The activities undertaken in the first stage of the cooperation are primarily aimed at cooperation in the preparation of an application to the Minister of Education and Science for permission to establish a course of study, which is planned to start on 1 October 2023.

The WIM is a research and development unit and a public healthcare institution. Its structure includes the Central Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of National Defence in Warsaw.
