The University of Warsaw (UW) won in the general classification of the Academic Polish Championships. Athletes from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków took the second place and the third place was received by the Gdańsk University of Technology.
The victory in the general classification gives the University of Warsaw the title of the Academic Polish Champion. This year teams from the University of Warsaw have won the team classification six times in beach volleyball, which was the last competition in this year’s championship. They also got the second place six times. Last two years, the results of the general classification looked the same.
The Polish Championships have been held since 1961. Until 2007, it was held under the name of Polish Higher School Championships. This year, the organizer of the championships, the Academic Sports Association, celebrates the centenary of existence. Currently, this nationwide association of academic athletes associates over 250 clubs.
