Rector of the University of Warsaw (UW), Prof. Marcin Pałys, issued an ordinance establishing an advisory team for the climate and ecological crisis. It will operate under the name “University of Warsaw for climate”. Its task will be to develop a strategy for climate actions that the university can take on the daily base.
The group „University of Warsaw for Climate” consists of 14 members of the University of Warsaw academic community. They are both academic and administrative employees as well as representatives of students and doctoral students. The team will discuss issues related to counteracting the ecological and climate crisis and discuss the social responsibility of the University of Warsaw in relation to this issue.
The plans include identifying needs and developing methods to reduce the university’s negative impact on the environment. The group will cooperate with scientists and other members of the academic community, as well as with entrepreneurs, non-governmental organizations and representatives of state and local authorities. One of the team’s tasks is also preparing positions and recommendations for individual UW units.
