“Poles are concerned about their future because of the war in Ukraine and say that local communities have responded appropriately to the influx of refugees”, according to the survey ‘War in Ukraine in Poles’ opinion’, which was conducted by the Media Studies Laboratory at the University of Warsaw (UW).

The CATI survey was conducted in late May and early June on a sample of 1,609 Poles. Respondents commented on four statements about the war in Ukraine: their own fears, the reception of refugees in the local community, the coverage of the conflict in the Polish media and the Russian Federation’s preparation for war.

‘After two years of fighting a pandemic, in a period of great uncertainty, it seems that the war in Ukraine is beginning to pour a spell of bitterness and this may cause many breakthroughs and re-evaluations in the coming months, both in social, economic and political life,’ believes Professor Tomasz Gackowski of the Faculty of Journalism, Information and Bibliology at the University of Warsaw, head of the Media Studies Laboratory at the University of Warsaw.
