The University of Wrocław was ranked 5th among Polish institutions, and 4th among Polish universities in the latest Nature Index 2022. The University is 190th among all European institutions on the Nature Index list.

The Nature Index is a database that collects information on affiliations of authors of scientific publications and research collaboration. The index tracks the contribution to the creation of scientific publications in 82 of the most prestigious scientific journals in the field of exact and natural sciences, selected by an independent group of researchers.

The ranking is compiled by Nature Research, the publisher of the leading scientific journal Nature. It presents both the absolute number of articles published in the above-mentioned in journals by scientists from individual countries and scientific institutions (the so-called Count), as well as the percentage of co-authorship of a given publication (the so-called Share).
