The University of Wroclaw (UWr) has improved its position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) 2024, with the university moving up from the 1201-1500 group to the 1001-1200 group of the world’s best universities. This places it fifth in the country, ex aequo with several other universities. 

UWr’s strongest performance was in the Research Environment category, in which the university was ranked 574th in the world. It also performed well in the International Outlook category (internationalisation), taking 985th place worldwide and 3rd place in Poland.

THE WUR is one of the most prestigious and largest university rankings, assessing more than 2,000 universities worldwide. It takes into account the most important goals of universities: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and internationalisation. In this year’s twentieth edition, 1,904 institutions were included in the final ranking list – more than a hundred more than last year.
