New laboratories for instrumental chemistry, biotechnology, biophysics, microbiology, cell biology and cell culture were opened at the University of Zielona Góra. They will constitute the teaching and research base of the Department of Biotechnology of the Institute of Biological Sciences.
Until now, the labs were located outside the university campus, in a remote part of the city, and in a building that needed urgent renovation. In the new laboratories, the employees of the Department of Biotechnology will conduct research and classes for students of the Faculty of Biological Sciences in the fields of biology and biotechnology, but also biomonitoring, environmental management and physical education.
The move was accompanied by the purchase of modern equipment. The microbiological laboratory has been equipped with with new microscopes, binoculars, incubators, a glass sterilizer and a modern autoclave. The improvement of the housing conditions will allow to expand the educational offer of the faculty of biological sciences.
