09.07.2019

On Friday, July 5, 2019, students of Lodz University of Technology (PŁ) from Lodz Solar Team presented their new electric vehicle Eagle Two powered by solar energy.

In October 2019 it will represent Poland in Australia during the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.

The car is equipped with 5 sq m of photovoltaic panels so it can move using only solar energy. If users drive at night, it uses a 60 kWh battery. The battery, when fully charged, is sufficient to drive 2400 km! The car has two BLDC engines, tailored to the Eagle Two characteristics, with a total power of 10 kW, which can accelerate the car up to 140 km / h.

Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is the largest race for electric cars powered by solar energy. For 32 years, it has been held in Australia. So far, it has been attended by 465 teams and over 10,000 participants, who every two years overcome the distance between Darwin and Adelaide equal to 3,000 kilometers.
