The University of Gdansk has won the competition “European Universities – alliances of the future” in the category “Support for Ukraine”. At the Conference of European Universities in Warsaw, the award was received by Rector Prof. Piotr Stepnowski.
During his speech, Prof. Stepnowski spoke about the university’s commitment to interdisciplinarity, inter-sectorality and equal opportunities in access to education. The Gdansk university has conducted and is conducting many aid activities – including a campaign to collect and reload donations for refugees and struggling Ukraine and has also hosted children of soldiers fighting in the war.
The European Universities Conference is a new initiative dedicated to alliances of higher education institutions from across the European Union. Its main objectives are to share experiences, launch joint initiatives leading to the development of long-term, structural, sustainable and systemic cooperation in education, research and innovation across Europe.
