The University Clinical Center (UCK) of the Medical University of Gdańsk established a virology laboratory, in which coronavirus tests are performed. The Laboratory of Molecular Diagnostics of the SARS-CoV-2 Virus operates on behalf of the Provincial Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Gdańsk.

– We have an experienced team of 4 experts specialized in molecular and virological diagnostics dedicated to work in the newly created laboratory. We received the ELITe InGenius apparatus from the Ministry of Health and 6,000 tests. The maximum capacity of this apparatus is about 40 tests a day – says Adam Sudoł, deputy general director of UCK for medical logistics.

The UCK has also its own identical equipment used so far in the Hematology Laboratory, which, due to current needs, has also been adapted for coronavirus testing.
