Researchers from the Krakow University of Economics and the Jagiellonian University in Krakow want to create a Virtual Museum of Forgotten Inventors. The aim of the project is to preserve the most valuable memorabilia of inventors from the past and to bring them closer to society.
The initiative aims to preserve valuable objects found during work on a documentary TV series by Polish Television entitled “Geniuses and Dreamers”. “Geniuses and Dreamers. It brought closer the stories of forgotten Polish inventors: Jan Szczepanik, Stefan Banach, Kazimierz Prószyński or Tadeusz and Czesław Tanski.
According to the Jagiellonian University, the Krakow scientists will assess the risks of deterioration, the management of air quality in the place where they are stored, as well as passive and active conservation. After digitisation, the objects will go to the Virtual Museum of Forgotten Inventors.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Education and Science under the Science for Society programme. It is scheduled for completion in September 2024.
