The Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in Warsaw is the first university in Poland equipped with a dynamic model of the artificial gastrointestinal tract. The device provides for a very faithful imitation and monitoring of the processes taking place in the stomach, small intestine and large intestine in controlled conditions. It will be used for research by the Institute of Human Nutrition Sciences, Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
The artificial gastrointestinal tract will be used to perform experiments of the metabolism of dietary components, their impact on the intestinal microbiota or research on probiotic food.
The equipment was purchased as part of the Project entitled “Food and Nutrition Center – modernization of the campus of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in order to create the Research and Development Center for Food and Nutrition” implemented at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
