Fifteen drinking water dispensers have been installed at Gdansk University of Technology, thanks to which more than 80,000 one-litre disposable plastic bottles will not end up in the rubbish.
The distributors were installed in cooperation with the municipal water supply company Saur Neptun Gdańsk. They were installed in the university’s main building, building ‘B’, Auditorium Novum, the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics building and the Academic Sports Centre. There are plans to install another dispenser at the Faculty of Chemistry.
The devices are equipped with sensors and a bottle counter, indicating a total of more than 80,000 one-litre bottles saved. The largest number of bottles has been saved from the dumpster at the Academic Sports Centre – here the dispenser counter already indicates more than 28,000.
Instead of buying water in disposable bottles, students can fill their reusable cup or bottle with drinking water from the dispenser.
