In 2005, 10,000 foreigners studied in Poland. In 2017, there were almost 66 thousand students from 166 countries in Poland. Such growth poses new challenges for the academic world. Therefore, the National Academic Exchange Agency announced the call for applications for the Welcome to Poland program. This will enable financing the projects related to raising the competences of employees who work with foreign students.
– A hundred thousand foreign students in 2020/21 it is a very real goal, and mostly it will depend on the universities themselves – said Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education at the January conference “Foreign Students in Poland”. It will be supported by the National Academic Exchange Agency and by the new financing program, promoting universities with a high degree of internationalization. Foreign graduates in Poland evaluate our country well, they stress that it is both culturally and financially attractive – emphasized PM Gowin.
Within the program Welcome to Poland, universities with the Erasmus Card for Higher Education, scientific units of the Polish Academy of Sciences, research institutes and international scientific institutes established in Poland based on separate regulations can apply for the financing.
