Inventions by scientists at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin received 50 patents last year. The Szczecin university ranked 7th in the country in terms of the number of invention rights granted.
Patented inventions include filters made from bionanocellulose based on potato tuber juice combined with a suitable non-woven fabric. The material can be used to create filters or masks, but also in respirators or indoor air purification systems.
Patents have also been awarded for a bio fire starter made from coffee bean husks; lavender extract grown on nano silver as a preservative for cosmetic creams; a shield that masks against detection in the image of a thermal imaging camera; and an airlock for temperature measurement and disinfection of people (e.g. passengers at an airport) containing spray nozzles and a thermal imaging camera.
