‘Word of the Year 2019’ competition completed

The LGBT acronym won 9.90 percent of the vote. The second place was taken by a  noun „climate”, which received 9.24 percent of the vote. The word “scooter” was the third, with 5.99 percent of the vote, said the organizer of the “Word of the Year 2019” competition, University of Warsaw.

Voting for “Word of the Year 2019” lasted from October 26 to December 31. A total of 34,000 votes were submitted in the online voting competition. Participants could have also submitted their own proposals, but eventually one of the ten proposals presented by the Chapter won.

The Word of the Year plebiscite jury included: Jerzy Bartmiński (Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin), Jerzy Bralczyk (University of Warsaw), Katarzyna Kłosińska (University of Warsaw), Ewa Kołodziejek (University of Szczecin), Marek Łaziński (University of Warsaw), Andrzej Markowski ( University of Warsaw), Jan Miodek (University of Wrocław), Renata Przybylska (Jagiellonian University in Kraków), Halina Zgółkowa (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań).
