Researchers from the Faculty of Chemistry at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with researchers from Portugal, are developing an innovative controlled drug delivery system. It is designed to precisely deliver a substance to the body and release it in the best possible place without side effects. 

In the joint NANOFOLD project, teams from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the University of Porto will work for two years to document their assumed utility of nanocarriers based on peptide foldamers.

“The peptide foldamers are oligomers that have the ability to self-organise into precise nanostructures. They are being seriously considered as potential components of bionanomaterials due to their unparalleled biocompatibility and easy modification. As a result, they can be effectively used in encapsulation and precise drug delivery into the body”, says the team leader of the Wrocław researchers, Dr Monika Szefczyk.
