Students from Wroclaw have constructed a microsatellite, which will soon take part in the CanSat competition, organized by the European Space Agency ESA. Before the final part the young constructors asked for a professional opinion of scientists from the University of Wrocław.
The satellite is small, with size of a can (hence the name of the competition). This year the competition objective is to construct a sampler examining the atmosphere of a planet. Its task is to measure the temperature and air pressure and send the data to the receiving station. The space wanderer must also be able to survive a high-speed landing.
Six students from the School No. 14 in Wrocław have been working on the prototype since October last year. Before the national final, the constructors visited the University of Wroclaw. During an official meeting, they listened to the advice of scientists who enthusiastically accepted the proposal for cooperation on this and subsequent projects (the students are already planning to participate in the next CanSat).
